Please note that we do not lend mountain bikes for our weekly courses!
In the summer semester you have the opportunity to borrow bikes from Campus Plus free of charge, but only during Campus Plus times. This offer is completely independent of our mountain biking courses.

General information

The meeting point for all courses is always in front of the entrance to the university sports hall, building 28 (unless otherwise announced in the email distribution list).
Before the tour, there will be a joint bike check. The tour usually starts 10 minutes after the meeting point.
For all courses you must bring: your own mountain bike, helmet, gloves, provisions (drinks and possibly bars), repair kit, inner tube and small pump.
For the advanced course we recommend protectors for your elbows, knees and shins.

Course offer

Easy advanced
If you have been mountain biking for a while, are in good shape for long tours and feel confident on the bike downhill, this is the right place for you. We start every Monday at 5 p.m. in front of the Unisport sports hall and set off for approx. 3 hours and 20-30 km long laps in the Palatinate Forest. There may be individual uphill or downhill competitions, but the focus is clearly on having fun together. So if you are new to cycling in Kaiserslautern or would like to get to know new routes, you are welcome to come along and get to know the Monday group. We are always happy to see new faces.

Advanced
The advanced cyclists meet on Thursdays at 6 pm in front of the Unisport sports hall. This is the right place for anyone who has been riding MTB for a while and wants to improve their technique or pick up tips and tricks from others. Rides of around 3 hours and 20-30 km are planned. However, it can also happen that we stay longer in one place and practice difficult sections. Offsetting the rear wheel, drops and high steps uphill are part of the program from time to time. So if you are technically fit and want to learn something new, you are always welcome to join us on Thursdays.

Beginners course

There is a beginners' course for beginners at the start of the semester. MTB beginners meet in front of the Unisport sports hall to gain their first experience on a bike. Whether hardtail or super enduro fully, everyone who is new to the sport and looking for the right introduction is welcome. In an hour and a half, we check the bikes together for their riding suitability, go through the most important basics and then set off on a short ride of approx. 1 hour in the Palatinate Forest. The focus here is to find out whether mountain biking is the right sport for you before you buy an expensive bike or to show you the first routes in the forest if you have already decided on a bike. So come along and get to know our group and the wonderful opportunities for mountain biking in the Palatinate Forest.

The dates will be announced soon!

Driving in the winter semester

For the courses in the winter semester, you must bring a battery-powered front and rear light. We recommend powerful LED lamps with at least 800 lumens for the front.
We recommend synthetic fiber clothing according to the onion principle as well as a wind/waterproof jacket and a change of shirt. Warm gloves and thick socks are a matter of course.
