And this is how it works

Climbing takes you up high - a sport for all the senses. If you want to challenge and develop your mind and body at lofty heights, you've come to the right place. RPTU students and staff are offered the opportunity to train independently at RPTU's Peak 17 climbing tower or, in the event of bad weather, at the DAV Kaiserslautern climbing center. This time is dedicated exclusively to training existing climbing and belaying experience. Safe and independent handling of belay devices and climbing is a prerequisite for using this time. There will always be a supervisor on site to answer any questions about the course and rental.

What I need
  • Level of knowledge: independent climbing and belaying according to recognized techniques and without checking the hall supervision
  • Proof of a basic Unisport card (student card)

Further information

  • Registration in the web app is mandatory!
  • On site, the terms of use of Peak 17 and Unisport/ the hall usage regulations of the DAV Kaiserslautern section apply.
  • Equipment can be borrowed on site
  • If you don't have a climbing buddy yet, you can still come along
Top rope and lead climbing courses

For all those who have no climbing experience or want to refresh their previous experience, we offer toprope and lead climbing courses. These take place at the same time as the Studi climbing course, but must be booked separately as a workshop.

The entry-level course is the toprope course. No previous knowledge is required for this.
You can find more information about the Toprope course here.

For advanced climbers there is the lead climbing course. Here you will learn how to switch from toprope climbing to lead climbing.
You should plan some time for toprope climbing between completing the toprope course and starting the lead climbing course. This will give you confidence and routine in both climbing and belaying. Feel free to ask the student climbing supervisor whether you are already confident enough for the lead climbing course.
You can find more information about the lead climbing course here.
