General information

Meeting point for all courses: Entrance to the University Sports Hall, Building 28.

Procedure: The tours begin with a joint bike check led by the guide before we set off.

For all courses you need to bring your own mountain bike, helmet, gloves, provisions (drinks and possibly bars), repair kit, inner tube and small pump. For the advanced course we recommend protectors for knees and/or shins.

Course offer

Beginners (6 weeks special)

In the first 6 weeks of the summer semester (from April 13th) we offer a guided tour for (re-)beginners to gain or refresh their first experiences with MTB in the forest. Whether hardtail or super enduro fully, everyone is welcome here who is new to the sport or has been wanting to get back on a bike for a while. On Mondays at 5 p.m., we check the bikes together to make sure they are fit to ride, go through the most important basics for a safe ride and then set off on a ride of approx. 1 ½ hours (approx. 10 km & 200 m elevation gain) in the Palatinate Forest. Come along, exchange ideas and get to know the wonderful MTB possibilities in the Palatinate Forest. Afterwards you are fit to join the easy advanced course on Monday at the same time.

Easy advanced

If you feel confident on your MTB both uphill and downhill and enjoy riding your MTB off the wide gravel paths, then this is the course for you! Are you fit enough for shorter tours and want to experience the Palatinate Forest with other MTB riders? Then check your bike with us on Mondays at 5 pm in front of the Unisport sports hall (building 28) and come with us for approx. 3 hours (approx. 20 km & 500 hm) in the Palatinate Forest. There may be individual uphill or downhill competitions, but the focus is on having fun together on the trail and during the breaks. Techtalk is of course not neglected either... We look forward to seeing you!

Advanced

The advanced riders meet on Thursdays at 6 pm in front of the Unisport sports hall (building 28). This is the right place for anyone who has been riding MTB for a while and wants to improve their technique or pick up tips and tricks from others. The rides usually last about 3 hours with breaks (approx. 25 km & 700 m elevation gain). However, there are also times when we stay in one place for longer and practise difficult sections. Offsetting the rear wheel, drops and high steps uphill are part of the program from time to time. So if you want to tackle unfamiliar technical terrain and master challenges, you are very welcome on Thursdays!

Riding in the winter season

For the courses in the winter semester, you must bring a battery-powered front and rear light. We recommend powerful LED lights with at least 800 lumens for the front.

We recommend synthetic fiber clothing according to the onion principle as well as a wind/waterproof jacket and a change of shirt. Warm gloves and thicker socks are a matter of course.

The tours do not take place during storms and thunderstorms or when there is a risk of storm damage.
