General information

Meeting point for all courses is always in front of the entrance to the Unisporthalle, building 28 (unless otherwise announced in the email newsletter).
We beginn the tour with a bikecheck, the tour itself usually starts 10 minutes after the meeting time.
For all courses you need to bring your own mountain bike, helmet, gloves, provisions (drinks and possibly bars), repair kit, inner tube and small pump.
For the advanced course and the play group we recommend protectors for your elbows, knees and shins.

Weekly courses

Intermediate
If you have been mountain biking for a while, are fit enough for extensive tours and feel confident on your bike downhill, this is the right place for you. Every Monday we start at 5 pm in front of the Unisport sports hall and set off for approx. 3 hours and 20-30 km long rounds in the Palatinate Forest. Uphill and downhill competitions can sometimes occur, but the focus is clearly on having fun together. So if you are new to cycling in Kaiserslautern or would like to get to know new routes, you are welcome to come along and get to know the Monday group. We are always happy to welcome new faces.

Advanced
On Thursdays, the advanced group meets at 6 pm in front of the Unisport sports hall. This is the right place for those who have been riding MTB for a while and want to improve their technique or pick up tips and tricks from others. Rides of around 3 hours and 20-30 km are planned. However, it can also happen that we stay longer in one place and practice difficult parts. Rear wheel shifting, drops and high steps uphill are part of the programme every now and then. So if you are technically fit and want to learn something new, you are always welcome to join us on Thursdays.

Beginner course

There is a beginners' course for beginners at the beginning of the semester. MTB beginners meet in front of the Unisport sports hall to gain their first experience on a bike. No matter whether hardtail or super enduro bike, everyone is welcome who is new to the sport and looking for the right introduction. In one and a half hours, we will check the bikes together to see if they are suitable for riding, go over the most important basics and then set off on a short ride of about 1 hour in the Palatinate Forest. The focus here is on finding out whether mountain biking is the right sport for you before you buy an expensive bike or on showing you the first routes in the forest if you have already decided on a bike. So feel free to come along and get to know our troop and the wonderful mountain biking opportunities in the Palatinate Forest.

The dates will be announced soon!

Riding in Winter

For the courses in the winter semester, you must bring a battery-powered front and rear light. For the front we recommend powerful LED lights with min. 800 lumens.
Synthetic fibre clothing according to the onion principle is recommended, as well as a wind/waterproof jacket and a change of shirt. Warm gloves and thicker socks go without saying.
