Mountainbike rental



RPTU's direct location on the Palatinate Forest makes it easy to take a short bike ride during lunch break. From April to the end of September, students, staff and guests can rent high-quality mountain bikes free of charge during CampusPause hours. In addition to the bikes, you can also rent gloves and helmets from us, so that you are perfectly equipped for your tours.  You can find the latest information on our social media channels.

Rental conditions

1. helmet and gloves are mandatory, but you can borrow them for free.

2. the rental is free, but we need 20€ deposit & an ID document (ID card or similar).

3. you can rent the bikes only during the rental hours, overnight rental is not possible.

4. if you have a fall - no problem - just let us know when you return the bike.

5. the MTBs are very expensive - please be careful with the bikes!

Suggested routes

To use the tours you have to download the app "Komoot" from the Appstore or Playstore and register. To use the app for free in and around Kaiserslautern, you have to enter "Kaiserslautern" in the free region.

Tour 1 - Directly to Humbergturm

This mountain bike classic is a nice alternative to get to the famous Humbergturm. Once at the top, a unique view of the city of Kaiserslautern awaits you, after which the main trail takes you back to the university grounds.

Tour 2 - Highlight-Tour: Humbergturm - Wildpark- Beilstein

This tour, which runs through the Palatinate Forest, shows you some sights with a few trail sections. First you ride up to the Humbergturm, which promises a unique view of Kaiserslautern. Then it's on to the wildlife park in Kaiserslautern, where you can continue to explore nature and its animals. The last major stop is at the Beilstein castle ruins, where you can learn about the history of Kaiserslautern. From there, it's back to the university grounds.

Tour 3 - Sporty tour to Mölschbach

This tour is connected with many trails that promise an experience both downhill and uphill. It is a round trip to Mölschbach and back to the university area.
