Weinfest in der Vorderpfalz

Vacation at home? In our region more than obvious. With our first destination on the Buckelist Pfalz, we start into the "Toscana of Germany". The picturesque landscapes and mild climate of the Vorderpfalz are especially inviting for a stroll at the more than 150 small and large wine festivals that make the region a very special experience. The stalls with excellent wines and regional specialties meander through the extensive vineyards and beautiful alleys of the small villages. Festively illuminated in the evening hours and often with various stages and live music, the wine festivals of the Vorderpfalz are a highlight that you should not miss.

To make the selection a little easier, we have made a small pre-selection with examples that are absolutely recommendable.

The wine festival season opens with the wonderful Mandelblütenfest. As the name suggests, the almond trees blossom in March in glorious pink and make the small town of Gimmeldingen a magnet for visitors. The Mandelblütenfest is one of the largest wine festivals in the Vorderpfalz and, for many Palatines, opens the most beautiful months of the year, when you can go to a different festival every weekend, after the long dry spell in winter.

Unlike many other wine festivals, at the Andergasser Weinfesttage you will find fewer set up stalls selling wine. Here you can take a direct look at the wineries of the Andergasse. The old buildings with great wine and vaulted cellars invite you into their courtyards for a drink. The special charm of wineries makes it a unique experience.

The city wall festival in Freinsheim is popular with tourists and widely known. Along the old town wall and in the historic alleys, you will not only find good wine, but also one or the other romantic place to linger.

In August, one of the most famous wine festivals awaits you with the Deidesheimer Weinkerwe. The special flair of the festival attracts numerous visitors. The town of Deidesheim is in a festive mood and presents itself from a particularly beautiful side.

No matter which of the wine festivals attracts you, whoever studies in this beautiful region must have visited at least one of them in order to be able to put the first tick on our Bucket List Palatinate.
