Body awareness

Body perception refers to the ability to assess one's body and its movement possibilities and to perceive them with all the senses. This is influenced by a variety of factors, e.g. visual and acoustic abilities, communication processes or social and emotional development. It also involves an awareness of the relationship between body and mind.

Good body awareness is characterized, among other things, by...

...can perceive his whole body and its individual parts well.

...has a realistic self-image.

...has good stability and balance.

...is flexible in his movements.

...can react to his own body signals.

In trainings to improve body awareness, the focus is therefore on releasing tension, making movements flow again, and improving sensorimotor perception and movement control.

Exercises

Body awareness can be trained by special forms of therapy, e.g. Basic Body-Awareness Therapy. But it can also be optimized by other techniques, e.g. mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, Qi-Gong, dance variations, e.g. Biodanza or even Tai Chi. You can also train your body awareness with individual exercises. You can find examples of this on the TK website. Here you will be given tips on what you should pay attention to when doing body awareness exercises and you can determine the level of difficulty yourself by choosing between lying, sitting and standing exercises.

Meditation

Ommmmmmmm....Try meditation, notice things consciously, start the day consciously and think about what you can be grateful for in the evening. This will help you relax and relieve stress.
What the effects and goals of meditation are and how you can go about meditating is explained to you in this video: Meditating Properly | Simple Explanation

There are also some apps that want to help you be mindful throughout the day. We've tested a few of them and summarized here which app we like the most.

Online-Meditation

If you want to give meditating a try, you can do so with this online meditation:

Feel that you are

You can not sleep and lie awake in bed? Then this is the best time for a Bodyscan! The point of the bodyscan is that you actively perceive your body without wanting to change these sensations. Start with your feet and actively perceive this part of your body. Are you able to feel each toe individually? Or also the spaces between the toes? When you are ready, detach yourself from this body part and feel your calf. Have you ever felt your calf like this? Detach yourself from it and go over to your knees. Can you feel them?

You can scan your body in small steps in the exercise. As with the feet, for example: first the toes, then each individual toe, then the spaces between them, then the ball of the foot and the heel. You might also feel the top of your foot. At the end, take a look at the entire foot. Of course, you can also perceive your body in larger steps. After all, it is your perception. The important thing is that you stay with your body and let go of thoughts that pop into your head. That is the art - try it!

If you'd like to do the whole thing with some guidance, you can listen to an introduction as well as a guided body scan, with or without music, on TK's site.
