Apps

Time and again, we are faced with the problem of wanting to change something, but often failing to implement it. That's why we've tested a few apps that we'd like to introduce to you. They can help you to eat healthier, get inspiration for meals and make sure you eat a balanced diet. We have tried out the apps below for you and summarized their possibilities and limitations. Feel free to read through the texts and try out whether the apps are helpful for you. But the principle applies here - not everything is suitable for everyone. Try them out, but if you realize that something doesn't help or do you good, pay attention to your needs!

EAT SMARTER

In the EAT SMARTER app, you'll find lots of inspiration for a balanced and healthy diet. If you despair every day about what to eat because you just can't think of anything, you can find lots of delicious recipes in the app. These are divided into the categories breakfast, lunch, dinner, salad, snacks, starters and light desserts, so you can browse freely according to your needs. There are also additional categories such as seasonal or regional cuisine. With the health score in the form of small emojis, you can see at a glance how healthy the recipe is. Each recipe gives you a brief overview of why the recipe is so healthy. It often explains the ingredients of certain foods and why the body needs them. You also get an overview of the specific nutritional values and a tip on how you could vary the recipe. We particularly like the fact that the app is very clear and that you learn a lot about the foods used in the recipe in the individual recipes. The Health Score is also a great way to quickly see how healthy a recipe is. With all the healthy recipes and their specific classification, it's important to remember that it's also perfectly okay to indulge from time to time.

Lifesum

Lifesum is a tracking app. If you would like to get an overview of how many calories you are actually eating, you can easily save your meals in the app. The app also calculates how many carbohydrates, proteins and fats you consume. The app also allows you to track your fruit and vegetable consumption, which could make it easier for you to maintain a balanced diet. You can also save how much water you have drunk each day. All these functions are free of charge. However, for additional services, such as recipes, you will need to take out a subscription. As an additional function, it is possible to enter your daily exercise, whereby the calories burned are automatically included in the calorie calculation. The good thing about this app is that calorie tracking gives you an overview of how much you eat per day. The fact that you have a retrospective overview of your current eating habits in your meal diary can also help you to recognize what you might want to change or adjust. A particularly good feature of the app is the ability to track fruit and vegetables, as these are part of a healthy and balanced diet and are often neglected in other apps. The app calculates your turnover from your height and weight. However, this is only a rough value and should always be treated with caution. You should know your body reasonably well and be familiar with the topic in other ways. You should also make sure that you really track your daily exercise - otherwise the calorie value of your app is not adapted to your lifestyle and is not very helpful. And even then, you should always keep this in mind: The app can give you a rough estimate - but it may be that your personal needs are different from what the app tells you, so you should treat the app's information with caution.
