Even though Kaiserslautern doesn't have a large river or the sea on its doorstep, we've done pretty well with Gelterswoog in the immediate vicinity. The lake is the ideal place to escape the heat of the city on hot summer days and cool off in the cold water. Countless leisure activities invite you to relax and unwind here. Especially in early summer, the water is wonderfully refreshing and the sand under your feet in the lido almost feels a bit like the sea. The pool is open from May to September and costs €5 to enter.

A mini-golf course and numerous hiking trails through the Woog landscape make the Gelterswoog an exciting destination on our bucket list, even for those not necessarily drawn to the water.

The Woog is also particularly beautiful in the evening, when you can end the day with a picnic and watch the sunset. The best place to enjoy the view is from the east side of the lake. From here, the sun paints the water in the most beautiful colors before it sinks behind the trees in the forest.

The lake is easy to reach from Kaiserslautern. It only takes 20 and 30 minutes by public transport.
