Apps

Again and again we are faced with the problem of wanting to change something, but often it fails in the implementation. That's why we've tested a few apps that we'd like to introduce to you. They can help you to eat healthier, to gather inspiration for meals and to pay attention to a balanced diet. We've tried out the apps below for you and summarized their possibilities and limitations. Feel free to read through the texts and try out if the apps are helpful for you. But the principle applies here - not everything is suitable for everyone. Try it out, but if you notice that something doesn't help or do you good, pay attention to your needs!

EAT SMARTER

In the EAT SMARTER app you'll find a lot of inspiration for a balanced and healthy diet. If you despair every day about what to eat because you just can't think of anything, you can find lots of delicious recipes in the app. These are divided into breakfast, lunch, dinner, salad, snacks, appetizers and light desserts categories, so you can browse freely depending on your needs. Furthermore, there are additional categories such as seasonal or country cuisine. With the Health Score in the form of small emojis, you can see at first glance how healthy the recipe is. In each recipe you get a short overview of why the recipe is so healthy. This often includes information about the ingredients of certain foods and why the body needs them. Otherwise, you get an overview of the specific nutritional values and a tip on how you could vary the recipe. We especially like the fact that the app is very clear and you also learn a lot about the foods used in the recipe in the individual recipes. The Health Score is also a super help to quickly see how healthy a recipe is. Of course, with all the healthy recipes and their concrete classification, you can't forget that it's also perfectly okay to indulge yourself.

Lifesum

Lifesum is a tracking app. If you want to get an overview of how many calories you eat, you can easily save your meals in the app. Additionally, the app calculates how many carbohydrates, proteins and fats you eat. The app also allows you to track your vegetable and fruit consumption, which could help you balance your diet. In addition, you can save how much water you drank every day. All of these features are free. However, for additional services, such as recipes, you have to take out a subscription. As an additional feature, it is possible to enter your daily exercise, and the calories burned are automatically included in the calorie calculation. What's good about this app is that with the help of calorie tracking, you get an overview of how much you eat per day. Also, having an overview of what your current eating habits are like in your meal diary in retrospect can help you see what you might want to change or adjust. Especially good about the app is the possibility to track vegetables and fruits, as these are part of a healthy and balanced diet and are often neglected in other apps. The app calculates your turnover from your height and weight. However, this is only a rough value and should always be treated with caution. You should know your body reasonably well, and still otherwise deal with the issue. In addition, you should make sure to really track your daily exercise - because otherwise the calorie value of your app is not adapted to your lifestyle and not very helpful. And even then, you should always keep in mind: The app can provide you with a rough estimate - it may still be that your personal needs are different than the app tells you, so you should really treat the app's information with caution.
