And this is how it works
Lambada was very popular at the end of the 1980s. After the popularity of Lambada as music quickly waned again in the early 1990s, Brazilian dancers began to dance Lambada to Zouk music from the French-speaking Caribbean. Over time and under the influence of numerous other dances and musical genres, this developed into a dance style of its own, which is now known as Brazilian Zouk.
Why is Zouk so special as a dance?
Zouk offers...
Versatility. From samba and tango to modern dance and contemporary to hip hop and R'n'B - all these dances have influenced Zouk and enriched its musical interpretation possibilities. That's why you can now dance Zouk to almost any kind of music - the possibilities are endless.
Sensuality and elegance. Smooth body waves, rhythmic isolations, dynamic head movements, sophisticated turns: It's all part of the zouk repertoire! The basics are easy to learn and the level increases over time.
Connection. Zouk is a couple's dance in which the leader and follower create the movements together and, unlike other dances, the lead is soft and pleasant if the technique is correct, which makes for a really great dance experience. Zouk is a wonderful way to let go and forget about everyday life!
Just try it out and let yourself be surprised! From our own experience we can say: Zouk is downright addictive.
After the workshop, you have the opportunity to shower at home (or at the university, of course), get some refreshments and enjoy the after-party together again from 8pm.
